Blues On CallSM is Mountain State Blue Cross Blue Shield's consumer health information program that helps members become more involved in their health care. Members can contact Blues On Call at 1-888-BLUE-428, 24 hours a day, seven days a week for easy access to a Health Coach (registered nurse licensed in West Virginia) who can help answer health care questions. Or they can visit Blues On Call via the Mountain State Blue Cross Blue Shield Web site to research health topics or to communicate with a Health Coach.

Blues On Call is an integrated disease management program supporting diabetes, COPD, asthma, CAD and CHF. The integrated Blues On Call program addresses the total health needs of the patient, not just issues related to one disease.

Blues On Call can help your practice by:

  • Enhancing the patient-doctor relationship by reinforcing and complementing your treatment plan between visits


  • Simplifying paperwork and office practice patterns so you can spend more time providing patient care


  • Providing one centralized program/contact for all patients, regardless of their condition

Another useful tool sponsored by Blues On Call is the Healthwise KnowledgebaseTM, a comprehensive, evidence-based resource of accurate, physician-approved information for medical consumers. The Healthwise KnowledgebaseTM supports decisions about when a problem can be treated at home, when to see a doctor, and what treatment option is best for the individual.
